Director of Worship

LOCATION: Platte County campus

Principle Function and Primary Responsibilities
The Director of Worship is a spiritual, organizational, and creative leader who oversees all aspects of Good Shepherd worship to create an experience that brings people into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. A faithful worship leader magnifies the greatness of God in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit by combining God’s word through music and environment.
  • Lead worship music and congregational singing with quality and consistency and in a participatory way that draws the congregation closer to Christ.
  • Select and prepare music for weekly worship, and any other additional worship services occurring at the site, in consultation with the Platte County Campus Pastor.
  • Create worship schedule using Planning Center and recruit vocalists and instrumentalists for each worship service.
  • Prepare and equip a band and singers for worship by leading weekly rehearsal and any additional activities, as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Campus Pastor to create new ways that facilitate and encounter with God, through innovative uses of space, lighting, decoration, interior design, and language. 
  • Collaborate music planning with the Directors of Worship from all campuses.
  • Recruit, train and schedule weekly sound and lighting technicians and video recording teams.
  • Provide support for the operation of all media equipment: video (live stream and archive), projectors, media computer, presentation remote, Blu-Ray player, video switcher and audio system.
  • Ensure that Good Shepherd adheres with licensing requirements for music.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor, or Lead Pastor.

  • Strong ability to effectively lead worship vocally and instrumentally.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to write and arrange music.

Hours and Lines of Communication
  • Part-time, paid staff, 15 hours per week
  • Reports to Platte County Campus Pastor

Good Shepherd is a multisite church located in the northland of Kansas City. The Platte County campus is located at 8017 NW Hampton Rd, Kansas City, MO 64152. The campus worships around 90 in two services on Sunday mornings. This campus is one of 3. The church is known for energizing and compelling messages, contemporary music, and excellent children and youth programming.
